Daily Sketch Project Day 70 - Faves In Zoot Suits

Hey there errybody! Today's suggestion comes from Zaki, who wanted to see 3-5 of my favorite people dressed in zoot suits. Now I know too many awesome, amazing people, so it was going to be an extremely stressful matter to choose who to draw from people I know personally. So I decided to make it simpler and pick from a pool of my favorite musicians/singers. SO from left to right we have David Byrne current solo artist and former member of Talking Heads, Brandon Flowers, both a solo artist and member of The Killers, and Andrew W.K. solo artist. Sadly poor Andrew didn't quite get his zoot suit, so I'm sorry for that. Just wanted to put them all together in poses typical of their performance styles, or citing specific examples. I would have added even more folks, but then I'd have gotten even less down. All amazing artists, who will probably never work together, but even if they just stood in close proximity, I'd probably lose my mind so, here's a drawing to hold me until that unlikely day arrives.

Thanks for the great prompt Zaki! I think DB turned out better than in the last drawing I did of him on here, so I hope that compounds your desire for David Byrne drawings. I hope you and everyone like it!

Daily Sketch Project Day 69 - The Adventures of Sonya Baggins, Farin Fandomshield, and Chrisdalf the Grey against the dreaded and terrible CBSmaug

Hey folks!  Today's blast of a prompt is from Sonya.  She wanted to see just what the title describes, and what it references is this tumblr post of an interaction between Sonya, Farah, and myself with regards to network ratings battles and the tragic cancellation or poor treatment of shows.

Happily Sonya brought this classic, lovely interaction back into the light, and I was only glad to put stylus to tablet in honor of it.  I just wish I'd gotten more done!  I knew this was one that would need more time by the end of thirty minutes.  I'm relatively happy with the idea that got put down there.  It just needs more time!  Definitely a good candidate for more work at day ninety!
Thanks for the magnifico idea, Sonya Baggins!  I hope you, and Faru, and everyone like what I managed to get down!  Now BACK TO THE JOURNEY TO TELEBOR

Daily Sketch Project Day 68 - Dragon Family

So late here, but hello! Today's suggestion comes from Kristina, and she wanted to see, "2 dragons (parents) in love, with their baby sleeping at their feet," as she's quite the dragon fan! As ever, I'm no expert on the creatures, but I hope my offering here pleases you! I don't think I've ever drawn so many dragons in my life as for DSP, and that certainly ain't a bad thing! I could obviously use some more time to research and develop my own kind of design for such, but ah well! If I get more dragon suggestions, I should be all right eventually, hahahah.

I hope you and everyone else like it Kristina! Thanks so much for the suggestion! This fam was fun to draw :3

Daily Sketch Project Day 67 - Hollow Korra

Hey folks upon the internet!  Today's suggestion comes from tumblr user Twerkat, who asked to see just what the title says.  I'm assuming from the subject matter that they've been following my art since long ago, when I made Bleach/Avatar crossover art and comics on deviantART.  Either that or they found it after the fact.  It used to take up quite a lot of my art time!  It was fun to go back and pay some sort of homage to it.  It's been a long time, but it was pretty easy to slip back into.

Thank ya very much for the very fun prompt!  :D

Daily Sketch Project Day 66 - Agents J and Mulder

Hallo! Today's prompt is one from Anthony, who wanted to see Agent J from Men In Black and Agent Mulder from The X-Files chasing an alien. I'm pretty sure this is a team-up straight out the days of my middle school fanfiction, so it's about durn time it got some artistic representation! It looks like they're hot on the trail of some extraterrestrial being in a shipping yard or some such place. J doesn't seem to think that Mulder's Bureau-issued Glock will do the job and offers the Noisy Cricket instead. Mulder doesn't seemed thrilled by what's happening here.

Thanks for the awesome prompt, Anthony! You keep on coming up with winners, my friend!

Daily Sketch Project Day 65 - David Byrne and The Lamp

Hey thar! I guess that this must be the sketch. Today's prompt comes from Zaki, who wanted to see David Byrne on a date with the lamp from Stop Making Sense. For reference, I must direct you here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9aN93S8nl8 An amazing song in an amazing movie by amazing people.

This was a delight to draw, and I am most glad of the wonderful suggestion, so thank you berry much, Zaki! I hope you and everyone likes it! I know I'm pleased :3

Daily Sketc Project Day 64 - Chicano Divas - Getting Ready

Hey there folks!  Today's sketch suggestion comes from Edward, and he asked for me to draw this picture which includes himself and two other gentlemen.  Don't think I've done any direct portraiture for this project, or for quite some time in general, so this was a fun exercise.  Hopefully I captured the source material all right.

Hope you like it Eddie, and that everyone else does as well!

Daily Sketch Project Day 63 - Veggie Tales

Hey folks! A bit late, but here's today's sketch! Also I must apologize for not posting a prompt call last night. I ended up falling asleep quite early before doing it, and for that I'm very sorry! A new post will go up after this sketch.

This suggestion comes from my Aunt Cheri, who wanted a portrait of the characters from the show Veggie Tales smiling. I've seen very little of the show, so I imagine there are quite a few more characters than this, but these were the ones that seemeed to show up consistently in my reference search. Thought I'd try to add in as much color as I could with the rough lines, since they're a very vibrant bunch. Didn't get everything down that I wanted to, but hopefully enough to get the characters across.

I hope you like it, Aunt Cheri! Thanks so much for the fun suggestion!

Daily Sketch Project Day 62 - Ash Bowie and the Bowinomicon

Hello there my people!  Today's outstanding suggestions come from Sir Christopher, who wanted to see a very confused David Bowie, dressed as Ash from The Evil Dead/Army of Darkness poking the Necronomicon (also confused and dressed as Ash Ketchum from Pokemon) with a stick, and I hope I've obliged!  Here we see them in Army of Darkness's graveyard setting, both without a clue as to what it means or what such things portend of the future.  I've got about as much an idea as them, I must admit!  But I sure like the situation, however confusing it may be.

Thanks for the lovely suggestion, Sir Chris!  I hope this has brought at least a modicum of your vision to life.  I'd like to see your own take on the idea!  This one's full of potential for different takes.  Hope everyone likes it!

Daily Sketch Project Day 61 - A Memorable Landscape (Brays Bayou)

Hiyo! Today's prompt comes from my friend Brandon, who wanted me to draw "A memorable landscape." I've seen my share of memorable landscapes in my time, but the one which came most to mind for this prompt was a particular place on the Brays Bayou bike trail. If memory serves, it's after Kirby, around the medical center. Some years ago, when I was in high school, I think, my mom, my dad, my sister, and myself all took a bike ride up to the Museum District. It was overcast, comfortably breezy, a perfect temperature, and during the ride, it rained just ever so slightly. Enough to enjoy, but not so much as to soak. I don't know that anything much happened at this particular place (we may have gotten off our bikes around there for a few mintes), though I don't know that I'd seen, or at least recognized it consciously before that day, but it's one of the vistas that I connect with that experience in my mind. That ride with my family is one of my best memories. I don't know if it distinguished itself more than any other for anyone else, but it's something I've always remembered and carried with me. Thus, a memorable landscape.

On the art side, I didn't draw this from pure memory. As much an impression as that day made in my mind, I didn't trust my memory to make a detailed accurate reconstruction of it, but I managed to find a video that I think covered the right place, and used it as reference. Quick-painting the clouds turned out pretty well, but I don't think the same can be said for the grass, sadly. It could definitely use a lot more time, because I'd like to give that memory the visual representation it deserves.

Thanks for the prompt Brandon, and thanks to Mom, Dad, and Laura for everything, as always, and for making that memory with me.

DAILY SKETCH PROJECT QUESTION

Hey folks!  So we're going into month three of Daily Sketch Project tomorrow.  Month one, suggestions was on a first come first serve only suggestion basis, and this last month has been all about submitting ideas and randomly choosing one per day.  Which method have you all preferred?  Personally, I like the random choice method in this last month, since I feel like more people get to get their ideas in, and it doesn't provide the stress of trying to get things in right after the post is made.  It also saves me going back and forth from tumblr to facebook every other day.

What are your thoughts?  Do you have an idea for a format you think might work even better?  Just want to get your folks' feedback, as we move into Round Three!

Daily Sketch Project Month 2 Revisited - Sand Snakes Brunch

Hey again! So here's the prompt I chose to work extra on. Again, it originated from a splendid idea from  Tristyn.  The reasoning was essentially the same as last month: I loved the prompt, and I think it had the greatest gulf between what I envisioned and what I got done among the last thirty DSP's. And even with another hour of work, it's still nowhere near where I wish it had been, but at least things look a LITTLE more nailed down. I got all the characters sketched in at least, and got Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene pretty well lined in. Unfortunately the food and table accoutrement is still sketchy and nebulous at best, but I nebulously sketched in the things you wanted, Tristyn, if you can manage to make them out, hahah. Some drink pitchers, and a waffle stack, and at least one eggs benedict, all Sand Snake style, of course!

The character designs are more book-description-based, and pulling inspiration from book fanart, since the limited time frame doesn't leave much room for character design, at least with this many characters on the canvas. Obara probably looks most show-like, because I'd started off more with her show design and never had time to go back and mess with it too much. The most marked difference is probably Tyene, in the center. She looks and acts so different in the show compared to the book, so she's probably all but unrecognizable. Sarella, Obella, and Dorea haven't been in the show yet, so there's no comparison to be made. I wish I had fit them all in, but I'm still missing Elia and Loreza :< I'm sorry ladies!

I'm glad I worked more on it. It still needs a lot of TLC, obviously, but I'm certainly happier than when I first submitted it! I hope this does a little more justice to your vision, Tristyn, and that you and everyone like it!

Tomorrow begins a new thirty-day cycle of DSP! The post for new prompts will go up around midnight!

Daily Sketch Project Day 60 - Darwin and Pokemon

Hey there! Today's suggestion comes from Anthony, who wanted to see Charles Darwin reacting to Pokemon evolution. It occurs to me now after the fact, that I never put anything in to indicate the Wartorle was evolving into the Blastoise and not that they're two separate Pokemon just standing next to each other. I guess hopefully your brains will fill in that gap >3>;;; Apologies!

I imagine such a feet might seem quite alarming to Sir Charles! Nothing like animals glowing and them undergoing rapid, massive, physics-defying changes. Yeah I imagine that would be shocking to the anyone not Pokemon initiated. I imagine seeing that in person would be quite something even for the biggest fan of the game. Let's hope Charlie keeps on his research and figures out how to explain the strange thing that Pokemon evolution is. Because I'll tell you I certainly don't know the science behind it!

Thanks for the excellent suggestion, Sir Anthony! I hope you and everyone else likes it!

It's Day 60 of DSP, so I'll be spending an extra hour on one of the drawings from the last thirty days and be posting it up later tonight!

Daily Sketch Project Day 60

Okay my people, here’s where you can submit ideas for future sketches! Every idea has a chance every day, and will stay in the running it's they’re drawn!  Tomorrow also marks the next thirty-day milestone of DSP, so I'll be choosing one sketch from the previous thirty and working on it for another hour tomorrow, in addition to a new thirty-minute sketch.  Here are the ideas currently submitted:

Cheri: Veggie Tales character portrait

Brandon: A memorable landscape

Anthony: Charles Darwin witnessing Pokemon evolution

Zaki: David Byrne on a date with a lamp

Twerkat: Hollow Korra

Daily Sketch Project Day 59 - Medusa and Bayonetta

Hi there peoples! Today's prompt is another from James, who wanted to see a meeting of the mutually long-haired ladies, Bayonetta and Medusa from Marvel's Inhumans comics. Both seem to be sizing up the massive mane of the other. I must admit complete ignorance of both, so I'm certain that there are multiple issues with things, but alas one can only do so much in thirty minutes!

Thanks for the prompt, and I hope you still find it enjoyable James, and that everyone else does too!

Post for new prompts will go up in the next few minutes!

Daily Sketch Project Day 58 - Scrooge McDuck Golfs with Mario

Hey there party people!  Today's prompt comes from Guillaume, and he asked for just what you see here.  Scrooge McDuck using his cane to golf against Mario himself.  Blue collar vs. the upper crust.  From the look of it, Scrooge is displeased with how close the game has been, whether it's in his favor or not, and doesn't want to even get close to losing.  Mario just seems genuinely impressed with the skills of his opponent.

This is a perfect example of why I love these daily sketches.  You guys come up with things I'd never ever even conceive of, and it puts me in a place to draw in manners and styles I might never have.  I'm not sure if I've ever drawn either of these styles before.  Maybe Mario at some point...?  I'm not sure.  Even though I'm sure they're off-model some, it was fun to draw the both of them, and I'd be happy to do so again.

You guys all come up with such fantastic ideas, I love it!  Thanks a bunch Guillame!  I hope you and everyone like it!  Wish I could have gotten around to adding in a background in time.

New post asking for prompts will go up after this!

Daily Sketch Project Day 57 - Daenerys Riding A Dragon

Heyo!  Today's idea comes from Leah, and it's been in the running for quite a while.  Its day has come at last.  She wanted to see Daenerys from the A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones series riding a dragon.  So here she is riding Drogon down toward King's Landing, Viserion and Rhaegal circling ahead.  The invasion.  It's finally happening.   Against all odds.  Originally, it was my intention to have the flight angle be steeper, almost straight down at the Red Keep, but somewhere in the mix, probably when I was researching what King's Landing looked like, I ended up getting it shallower.  And since these drawing are often fairly rushed, I didn't realize it until it was MUCH too late to correct.  Ah well.

I hope you like it Leah, and thanks for your patience!  I hope everyone else likes it too!  :D

The call for new prompts will go up shortly!

Daily Sketch Project Day 56 - The Flash vs. Quicksilver

Hey everyone!  A bit late with it, but here's today's sketch.  A lovely idea from J'dee, of DC and Marvel's premier speedsters battling it out!  I went with Grant Gustin's Flash from TV and Evan Peters's portrayal of Quicksilver from X-Men: Days of Future Past.  There are so many versions, but these are my favs of each (well Grant is tied with Justice League's Flash, voiced by Michael Rosenbaum, but Bruce Timm style wouldn't gel as well with realistic Evan Peters).  It looks like their first meeting, as both seem surprised by the speed of the other.  The Flash wasn't expecting such a speedy attack (whatever its cause) and barely dodges Quicksilver, who anticipated a quick and simple knockout.

This was really fun to draw!  Thanks for the outstanding idea, J'dee!  :D  I hope you and everyone like it!

Post for new prompts will be going up after this is uploaded!

Daily Sketch Project Day 55 - Darth Vader and Skeletor’s Biking Excursion

Hey there folks!  Today’s lovely suggestion comes from my friend Chris, who wanted to see Darth Vader and Skeletor biking happily through a field, and I was quite elated to sketch that very thing.  Another one that definitely needs more time.  Had to rush through the lines some, especially on Vader, but hopefully the feeling comes through all the same.

But rushed or not, the was MUCHO fun to draw.  Thank you very much for the splendid suggestion, Sir Christopher!  This is definitely a candidate for more work at the 60 day mark.  There’s so much more that this can be.

The post asking for prompts for tomorrow and beyond will go up round midnight.  If I’m out and about tonight, it may be a little later, but I’ll do my best to get it up then!

Daily Sketch Project Day 54 - Sand Snakes Brunch

Hi there people!  Today's prompt comes from Tristyn, who wanted to see The Sand Snakes of Game of Thrones fame having brunch together.  I'm frustrated by how little there is down for this one, because I loved the idea so much, and was so excited to do it!  In the end, I think I just tried to do too much too fast.  Too much time trying to compose in all eight of them, and even then not getting them all in by the time I decided I had to jump to doing lines, and the not getting much of that down at all, much less with any good amount of quality!  Bleck.  This is a good candidate for more work at Day Sixty, because I love the idea of it so much, and it just isn't there the way that I want it to be.  It probably didn't help that I was kind of stuck between TV depictions, book descriptions, and headcanons, because there's such a disconnect with most things Dorne between the TV and books.

I'm sorry I couldn't get more done on this and do your awesome prompt justice, Tristyn!  This may see more work soon!

Thanks to everyone for the prompts they've submitted, and all the folks who came up with new ones today.  I'm loving these ideas!  Here's hoping I'm able to give them a depiction worthy.

Post for new prompts again goes up round midnight PST!

Daily Sketch Project Day 53 - Optimus Prime Builds a Gundam

Hey there folks! Today's suggestion is another one dreamed up by Anthony, and given an extra vote by J'dee, who both wanted to see Optimus Prime building a Gundam. I'm assuming he meant Gundam model, since that would probably be a more absurd visual. If we're being real, I still probably didn't draw the parts small enough to scale with Optimus. I wish I'd had more time to work some more character into this one. What I probably should have done was work on the tone, then go in with details if I had time, but I did the reverse. Well hopefully, the crazy nature of the topic is entertaining enough on its own! It's been a long time since I've drawn a transformer, and I may never before have drawn Optimus. They're a complicated bunch to illustrate, but it was fun and educational to do!

Thanks for the prompt, Sir Anthony! I hope it pleases you, J'dee and all the folks out there!

Next post calling for prompts will go up around midnight. Comment before noon to get yours in the running for tomorrow's drawing!

Daily Sketch Project Day 52 - Papa Lance and Papa West, A.K.A. The True All Star Team Up

Today we have a prompt I’ve been QUITE excited about.  It comes from Faru, and Diana later seconded the motion.  It’s Captain Quentin Lance from Arrow and Detective Joe West from The Flash, AKA two of the best.  Just the best.  No questions asked.  They are beautiful and give me life and should be appreciated by all.  Their meeting in “Who Is Harrison Wells?” was wonderful and an excellent start, but please I need them teaming up to fight crime.  Since we have yet to receive that bountiful gift, I thought I’d deliver it via art.  They both seem to be having a wonderful time, brothers in arms.  Papas in arms.  Yes.  Precious papas.  May terrible events never again befall them.  They have been through too much stress and anguish already.

I’m rambling because papas.  Thanks for the fantastical prompt Faru :33333  I hope you are pleased with my offering!  And that Diana and everyone else is as well!  WATCH ARROW AND THE FLASH FOLKS.  You shan’t regret it.

Next post asking for prompts will go up round midnight!  :D

Daily Sketch Project Day 51 - Noir Detective Garnet

Hallo there!  Today's prompt is a long time coming from my friend James, who wanted to see Garnet from Steven Universe as a noir detective, and I'm here to provide at last.  Here we see her, likely in the middle of some investigation.  Caught in an alley at the onset of a raindstorm, she turns up her trench coat collar to the elements, and reflects on the sinister forces against which she's been contracted to work.

This was quite fun to draw!  I love me cities (or anywhere really) in the rain, and it's always a lovely experience to draw rain scenes.  True the prompt didn't call for it explicity, but I think that it fits with the theme, and added a nice button on the drawing for me :3

I hope you like it, James!  Sorry for the long wait!

The post calling for new prompts for tomorrow and beyond will go up shortly!

Daily Sketch Project Day 51

I'm so sorry, I guess I got caught up doing commission work last night and failed to make a post for new prompts!  I'll leave this open until 5PM PST to allow time for new ones.  Very very sorry for the oversight.  Here are the prompts as they now stand:

Leah: Daenerys riding a dragon

James: Garnet from SU as a noir detective

Farah: Papa Lance and Papa West (+1 from Diana)

Cheri: Veggie Tales character portrait

Anthony: Optimus Prime building a Gundam (+1 from J'dee)

Daily Sketch Project Day 50 - Self Portrait Comic Drawing

Hey there errybody!  Today's prompt comes from Julian, who wanted to see a coming panel of me drawing comics, and I'm here to oblige.  Drawing physical comics manages to most always involve me taping on sheet after sheet of paper to the side to work in my perspective vanishing point, and drawing a thousand lines to them, in which one can easily get visually lost.  It gets rather unwieldy in a variety of ways.  Also there are usually books and images everywhere, and it's just a hot mess.  Also, judging from these Daily Sketches, I always seem to draw myself with some weird expression on my face.  I guess I must view myself as a guy who makes weird faces.  Maybe that's not inaccurate.

Hope everyone likes it!  Thanks for the idea, Sir Julian!

Post asking for ideas for tomorrow and beyond will go up around midnight.  Additionally, several folks wanted to vote on which idea should next be drawn, so what I'm going to try is if you see an idea you like and want to see, I can add you to the selection, so it doubles that idea's chances of getting drawn next.  So if you don't have an idea to submit, but still want to way in, just comment with said desire and see your vote taken into account!  We'll see how that goes.  I also don't want it to get to a point where some ideas never get drawn because they're not getting votes, but we'll see how it goes!

Daily Sketch Project Day 50

Awrighty peoples! Here's the place to submit ideas for daily sketches! If you submit it before noon tomorrow, you'll have a chance to get it drawn the very same day. And if it's not, it will have a chance every day until it's drawn, or you replace that idea with a new one! Here are those in the running right now:

Leah: Daenerys riding a dragon

James: Garnet from SU as a noir detective

Julian: A comic panel of me making comics

Farah: Papa Lance and Papa West

Cheri: Veggie Tales character portrait

Anthony: Optimus Prime building a Gundam

Tristyn: Sand Snakes Brunch

Daily Sketch Project Day 49 - Tahno's Lot

Hey there my people!  This prompt comes from Alison, who asked to see Tahno from Legend of Korra wearing the shirt that you see here.  The poor man has gone through a lot, and let's face it, he was never truly given his day.  Am I happy that he got his cameo in the finale?  Of flippin' course.  Do I wish he'd become a main cast member and had a beautiful character arc.  You bet your bottom dollar.  But we don't always get what we want.  And Tahno is here to remind us of such.

Also to make it even worse, I wanted the t-shirt to be way oversized.  Just icing on the cake.  I am sorry sweet bb Tahno.

Hope ya like it Alison, and that erryone else does too!

Post for day fifty of DSP will go up shortly!  You can submit your ideas there :)

Daily Sketch Project Day 48 - Gannicus and Oenomaus

Heyo there people!  Today's is a sketch a long time coming.  The prompt comes from Riza, who put this in quite some time ago, and I've been very excited to do it ever since.  Thank goodness it finally came around!

These are two characters from a mutual favorite shows of ours, Spartacus.  These two are two of the bestest friends ever, and I can't say much more without spoiling plot points for those who have yet to see this wonderful program.  One of my favs ever, and it doesn't get NEAR enough love.  I highly recommend it.  Just get past episode 1.  It lays it on a little heavy right at the beginning, but if you stick around long enough that it gets momentum going, you can't stop.

I wish I'd had more time to focus on their closeups.  This is definitely a good candidate for additional work at the sixty day mark.

Also, shoutout for Farah for getting me into this wonderful story in the first place :3

Thanks for the uber loverly prompt Rizaaaaa!  I hope you like it!  And I hope everyone else does too.  And that it inspires you to go watch this show :P

The post calling for prompts for tomorrow's drawing will go up round midnight and last until noon.  Keep an eagle eye and submit your ideas!  They will get drawn, if not tomorrow, sometimes in coming days!

Daily Sketch Project Day 48

Awrighty folks, submit your prompts here by noon tomorrow to get in the drawing for tomorrow's drawing!  If it's not in by noon, it will go on file for a chance the day after, and every day after that until it's chosen!  Here are the candidates as they now stand:

Riza: Gannicus and Oenomaus greeting each other in afterlife

Leah: Daenerys riding a dragon

James: Garnet from SU as a noir detective

Alison: Tahno wearing a “i lost my waterbending and all i got was this stupid trombone” shirt

Julian: A comic panel of me making comics

Daily Sketch Project Day 47 - Mobile Suit Deathscythe

Heyo!  Today's suggestion comes from Brandon, who wanted to see a sketch of Mobile Suit Deathscythe, from Gundam Wing, if I'm not mistaken.  Giant robot anime were never my area of expertise, much less Gundam in particular, though I admit that Gundam Wing is the one I'm most peripherally familiar with, since it played on Toonami around the time when I watched a heck of a lot of stuff on there.  Always thought Gundams looked cool, but for some reason, I just never got into the Giant Robot anime genre.  Probably the closest I got was Beast Wars, which still spend half the time not looking like robots.

ANYWAY, here's my attempt at Deathscythe.  The foreshortening on the forward arm looked better before I drew its gauntlet on...and I feel like the wings are probably at a bit of a wonky angle...but hopefully it still read all right.

Hope you like it Brandon, and everyone else!  Thanks for the prompt!  Gettin' me outta my organic form-drawing shell (though admittedly it's not all that far away from an armored person).

Next post calling for new prompts will go up around midnight!

Daily Sketch Project Day 47

Here we go peoples!  Here's the place to make prompt suggestions!  Each day I pick one at random and draw it.  If yours isn't chosen, it stays in there until it is, unless you decide to replace it with a different idea.  Here are those in the running at current:

Riza: Gannicus and Oenomaus greeting each other in afterlife

Leah: Daenerys riding a dragon

James: Garnet from SU as a noir detective

Alison: Tahno wearing a “i lost my waterbending and all i got was this stupid trombone” shirt

Julian: A comic panel of me making comics

Daily Sketch Project Day 46 - Lieutenant vs. Oberyn

Hallo there!  Today we have another prompt from Linh.  He wanted to see the Lieutenant of Amon from Legend of Korra fighting Oberyn Martell, and here is my presentation of said idea!

I wanted to get some kind of crazy angle in there, since Oberyn in particular is so acrobatic.  I'm sure if double checked, the foreshortening must be all kinds of wrong and weird, and maybe it looks that way too.  It looks okay to me, at least if I don't inspect too hard, hahah.  It looks like Oberyn's having a good time messing with Lieutenant.  Personally I'm rooting for the Prince.

Hope errybody likes it!  This was fun to do.  Thanks for the excellent prompt, Ser Linh!

Next post calling for prompts will go up 'round midnight!

Daily Sketch Project Day 46

Okay my people, here's the place to comment with ideas for sketches!  Everyone not on the list below can submit an idea, and all will be entered into a random selection.  Don't worry; if it doesn't get picked, it stays in until it gets drawn or you submit a new idea!  Anyone below can still submit a new idea, but it will take the place of your current one.  Without any further ado, here's what we have now:

Riza: Gannicus and Oenomaus greeting each other in afterlife

Alison: Tahno wearing a “i lost my waterbending and all i got was this stupid trombone” shirt

Julian: A comic panel of me making comics

Farah: Papa Lance and Papa West

Daily Sketch Project Day 45 - Lego Lost Roman Legion vs. T-Rex

Hey peoples!  Sorry for the lateness of the post, but here it is all the same.  Today's prompt comes from Anthony, who has been trying to get a suggestion in since just about the beginning.  I'm glad to finally be able to fulfill his sketch request!  At first it was The Lost Roman Legion fighting a T-Rex, but it later changed to being LEGO, and that is what we have here.  Why this is happening, I don't know, but these guys seem to have it quite rough.  I do not envy their situation!

I hope you and everybody like it, Sir Anthony!  Thanks for being patient!  I hope it was worth the wait.

Post calling for prompts for tomorrow's drawing will be up presently!

Daily Sketch Project Day 44 - Left-Handed Tea

"It's so beautiful..."

Greetings all!  Today's sketch is a long-time waiting prompt from WaYu, and its time has come at last.

For his prompt he suggested just what the title says.  This requires some back story.  So basically I've been taking Japanese tea ceremony classes, and it's a right-handed person's game.  Being a lefty, every attempt to whisk matcha with my right hand inevitably ends up in a fairly frothless tea.  Not what you're looking for in that situation.  And so this was suggested so I could at least fulfill, through art, the fantasy of using my much more adept left hand and succeeding where my right has failed.

So thank you, Wayu-san, for this prompt.  I had fun with it, and got to live out my dream.  Hope you and everybody likes it!

Next call for prompts goes up from tonight round midnight to noon.  Reply there with ideas to get in the running to get your idea drawn!

Daily Sketch Project Day 43 - JohnVris

Hey folks!  Today's prompt comes from Laura, who has asked for some JohnVris, A.K.A. the pairing of John Egbert and Vriska Serket from Homestuck.  For whatever reason, inspiration was doing it's best to be elusive today, even with such an exciting prompt, which I love to draw, and don't draw enough.  Went through several ideas, and started on one before realizing that it was almost the exact same as the Destiel sketch I did here before.  That was rather disheartening, but eventually, I decided to draw them having a rather spirited matchup in a video game of some sort, Vriska doing whatever it takes to win.  Looks like they're having a good time, no matter who's winning :3

I wish this looked better.  I'm not all that satisfied with it, sadly :\  I'm sorry Laura, I hope you and everybody else like it anyway.

Next call for prompts will go up in a few minutes.  Submit there between then and noon to enter into tomorrow's sketch lotto, and yours may soon find itself drawn by yours truly!

Daily Sketch Project Day 42 - First Fanart Rehash: Dontatello

Hey errybody!  Today's prompt comes from J’dee, who asked for a re-hash of my first fanart.  Now I can't be sure what my actual first fanart was, but the first drawing of mine I can clearly remember was a ninja turtle, and given that Donatello is far and away my favorite, I'm guessing it must have been him.  Back in pre-school times, maybe before, I drew a lot of ninja turtle heads and Batmobiles.  Dunno which came first, but it was basically TMNT and Batman all the time.  SO I decided to draw dear Donny.  I always remember drawing them with that kind of mouth, so that's the one I put down.  I have a feeling I might have been referencing the TMNT comic book calendar I had for reference back then, but I never read the original comics as far as I can remember, but boy did I watch the tv show.  So I drew 1987-style Donatello.  And to keep it fairly similar to those first fanarts, I thought I oughtn't draw anything more than a bust view.  This gave me more time to work on the limited view I put down, so I made this my first DSP color sketch!  Got to go in and add me some chroma and shading even!  Still the time went faster than I thought it would, so the "D" there could use a little work and color as well, but such is often the fate of timed drawing.

Hope everyone likes it! Thanks for the fun suggestion, J'deeeee grin emoticon It's always wonderful to draw the Turtle boys.

Day 43 prompt post goes up around midnight and will be open for ideas until noon. Get in your prompt there for a chance at seeing it drawn tomorrow!

Daily Sketch Project Day 41 - Peguin with a Top Hat, Monocle, and Book

Hey there my peoples!  Today’s prompt comes from Sam, who put in this suggestion quite a bit ago, and it’s finally coome to fruition!  She asked for what the title says, and I found that finishing the penguin and book sketch itself didn’t take long, so I decided to give him an environment.  As it turns out I gave myself TOO much to do there, so it went from something done early to something not so complete as I’d liked it.  I guess I could have just spent all my time on the penguin figure and made it a nicer painting sort of thing, but…  I dunno once the penguin was reading this giant tome, I started picturing him in a vast library or study, researching something or other with great fervor.  I don’t know into what he’s delving, but it seems like very serious business.  So there should be books on those sketched in shelves behind him, but you’ll need to use your imaginations to see them.
Also, I decided to go with a rockhopper penguin, in lieu of their more universally known cousins, the emperor penguins.  Rockhoppers are fun little guys with fascinating eyebrow-like feathers.  It gave this dapper fellow a serious look, that’s for certain.

So I hope you like it Sam, and that everyone else does too.  Thanks for your patience, and I hope it was worth the wait!  : )

Next suggestion post goes up around midnight (or sometime after depending on how busy my night is), but you’ll have from its posting to noon to make new suggestions to get into the sketch lotto!

Linh: Amon's Lieutenant vs. Oberyn Martell

Daily Sketch Project Day 40 - Doctor(s) v. Nyarlathotep(s)

Hey folks, sorry for the lateness of posting today, but here's l'sketch!  The prompt comes from my buddy Chris, who wanted to see The Doctor's various incarnations taking on the many forms of H.P. Lovecrafts Nyarlathotep in a triple game of speed chess, mahjong, and poker, and here is what I got down!  Ideally, this would be much wider and you'd get to see all the various forms of each doing battle, but I wanted it to be readable, so most had to hint at the idea while focusing more on one specific matchup.  The Doctor's forms are all human-ish (and I had to give the spotlight to the tragically underrated Ninth Doctor), but Nyarlathotep...well he's got variety.  Tentacled blobs, putrid mists, jellyfish-like creatures, pharaohs, the list goes on.

Thanks for the excellent suggestion, Sir Christopher!  I hope very much that you and everyone like it!

Post for tomorrow's going up momentarily!
