Daily Sketch Project Day 112

All righty! Here is where you can submit ideas for DSP! Each has a chance to be sketched every day, and will stay in the running it's drawn! These are the ideas currently submitted:

Brandon: Liliana Vess

Cheri: Christ's baptism through water and the Holy Spirit

Jax: Goku fighting Optimus Prime standing on the Millennium Falcon

Anthony: The Lost Lego Roman Legion being attacked on their new camp by lego Harry potter and friends

DAILY DRAWING PROJECTS ANNOUNCEMENT

Hey folks! Here to say for the next few days, I'll likely be unable to do my Daily Storyboards, since I'll be working a freelance job, that will probably take up the lion's share of my day. I'll do my best to get in a Daily Sketch at least, since that's not too much time out of my day, but I don't know that I'll have an extra two full hours to devote to personal storyboards. We'll see how things go, but in case I can't, I wanted everyone to know why! I'm looking forward to doing more when more time opens up again!

Daily Sketch Project Day 111 - Ultraman

Hey everyone!  Here's a suggestion from John, who wanted to see me draw Ultraman, famous Japanese hero, and here I present said drawing to you!  I'm afraid I know little about Ultraman personally, but this seemed a popular pose of his, and I liked the energy, so it's what I chose to portray!

I hope you and everyone else like it, John!  Thanks a bunch for the suggestion!  Sorry it took so long to come up in the random queue.

Daily Storyboard Project Day 22 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone! Back with a few more boards for ya! Riley sees the massive wave towering over him, and quickly jumps to action. Half of the time today was spent doing some thumbnails, which I'm excited to show you in final form in the coming days!

Daily Sketch Project Day 110 - Dangerous Ladies vs. Sand Snakes

Hey everybody!  Today's suggestions comes from Linh, and is an excellent one!  He wanted to see Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee taking on the Sand Snakes, Obara, Nymeria, and Tyene Sand.  An ambitious, excellent idea, with a lot of figures to draw.  I probably could have gotten more of it done, if I hadn't set it in the Water Gardens, but what can I say?  I love that style of architecture, and wanted to include it in the drawing.  It seems to me that the Avatar ladies have designs on the Kingdom of Dorne, but the daughters of Oberyn and Ellaria will have none of it!

There's a lot a LOT more work that could be done on this, but I'm not displeased with how much I got down in the time allotted.  I started by detailing the Fire Nation folk, because their designs are much more ingrained in my mind than the Sand Snakes, even if it's been a while since I've drawn any of them.

I hope you and everyone like it Linh!  Thanks, as always, for the marvelous idea!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 21 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone!  Back with more storyboards for you, an this page is essentially the same, but for the last frame, which I decided to change, in lieu of a different approach to the upcoming scene.

Next I redid the beginning of the new page as well.  Riley stared up at the massive wall of water making its way toward the shore.  Half of today was making some new thumbnails, and I may make some more tomorrow in the same way.  We will see!

Daily Sketch Project Day 109 - Lego Roman Legion Recoup

Hey everyone!  Back from San Diego Comic Con and back to Daily Drawing with a suggestion from Anthony, who wanted to see a follow-up to his previous request, which involved the Lost Lego Roman Legion fighting a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and can be found here.  Here, he wanted to see them licking their wounds after that intense battle.  The camp is still under construction, and those injured rest and all reflect on their horrific day.

I hope you like it Anthony, and that everyone else does as well!  It was fun following up with the Lego Romans, even if they're a bit worse for wear.

DAILY SKETCH ALERT

Hey folks!  Here to say that I'll be taking a brief break from both Daily Sketches and Daily Storyboards from today until this Sunday.  I'm down at Comic Con from now until then, and if today is any indication, I won't really have the time.  If I can, then I will, but today was pretty nonstop, and I won't be surprised if the rest of the weekend was the same.  If I had a room to myself, I could stay up and do them, but I'm a room with others, and so must get to sleep around the same time as my companions.  Sorry for the sabbatical!  I'll be back on both sketches and storyboards again soon!

Daily Sketch Project Day 109

All righty! Here is where you can submit ideas for DSP! Each has a chance to be sketched every day, and will stay in the running it's drawn! These are the ideas currently submitted:

John: Ultraman

Brandon: Liliana Vess

Linh: Azula, Mai, and Ty Lee vs Obara Sand, Tyene Sand, and Nymeria Sand

Anthony: The Lost lego roman legion setting up camp to lick their wounds in their epic struggle against the tyrannosaur

Daily Storyboard Project Day 20 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everybody!  Back with continued storyboards here.  One of the folks that Riley's hanging with points offscreen toward the massive incoming wave, inquiring if that's something he's doing.  Riley looks rather shocked, so I'm going to guess that the answer is a resounding no.
And next, I just started a new page of boards, and reached the end of the thumbnails I had down, so tomorrow will bring new thumbnails from which to work.

Here we pull back as the wave nears, casting its imposing shadow across the shoreline.

Daily Sketch Project Day 108 - The Dark Wiseau vs. The Cage of Steel

Hellooooo there everyone!  Today’s beautiful suggestion comes from Capleesi , who wanted to see Tommy Wiseau as Batman with Nicolas Cage as Superman.  For those who don’t know, at some point in the 90’s, Tim Burton was set to direct a Superman movie, with Nic Cage starring in the title role, even going so far as to having a costume test with Nic Cage in the Superman suit, of which there is now public video evidence.  As for Tommy Wiseau, there was a point where he made public that he wanted to make a Batman movie, if he was able.  And so here these titans clash, yelling at each other, each in their own particular manner.  It’s a thing of beauty, which I say not to tout my own art, but the spirit of these two men that flow through it.  As I said to Faru, I want to visit the alternate universe where these things occurred, because really why would you not, given the chance?

Thanks for the WONDROUS suggestion, Herr Faru.  This was a joy to illustrate :3

Daily Storyboard Project Day 19 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey errybody! Here we continue, as Riley surveys his work, clearly pleased that everyone else seems so pleased. What can I say? He enjoys positive vibes. One of his group is getting his attention, it seems, but for WHAT REASON? Stay tuned to FIND ON OUT!

Daily Sketch Project Day 107 - Japan Trip Redux

Hey everybody!  Today's suggestion comes from Gabe, who wanted to see my rendition of this classic Japan trip photo.  I decided to improve on it, as it's always been a tragedy to me that we can't full see Andrew in it, and his expression looks like it's wonderfully incredulous.  So now you can full see all of us.  This was a grand old time, and I hope that one day soon, we can all head to Japan together again!

I hope you like it Gabe, and that everyone else does too.  Thanks for the excellent prompt and the excellent memories, gents!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 18 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone! A little bit of slowed progress today, because I decided that I didn't like the original versions of the third and fourth frames in this page. I went back and redrew them, and am happier with the results. Riley's been hard at work, making conditions such that his pals can swim around the air as if it were water. But what about that incoming wave? Someone seems a little too wrapped up in his own shenanigans to take much notice!

Daily Sketch Project Day 107

Daily Sketch Project Day 106 - Perpetually Amazing Peeler

Hey everyone!  Today's prompt has been on the list a while, and is finally seeing the light of day!  It comes from Zaki, who wanted me to draw an everyday thing, which I'm constantly in awe of.  I might not use it everyday, but every time I use it, I'm amazed: the humble vegetable peeler.  It makes things so simple, and it's such a simple tool.  But what a brilliant idea, and an ingenius design.  Whoever you are that created this wonder, I salute and thank you.

Thanks for the splendid prompt, Zaki!  Sorry for the long wait.  I hope it was worth it, and that you and everyone enjoy this!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 17 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone! Hoo boy, progress has been slow these last couple days, but I got a fair bit of thumbnails worked out, and after these shots, it should go a bit faster. Here we check in with Riley and friends. He's utilizing his abilities to decrease the gravity for those around him. The other kids seem to be enjoying this quite a bit!

Daily Sketch Project Day 105 - Gundam Luke vs. Zaku Vader

Hey everyone!  Today's prompt comes from Anthony.  He wanted to see Luke Skywalker in a Jedi Gundam, fighting Darth Vade in a Sith Zaku.  Again, I profess to having no proficiency in Gundams, but I did what I could.  I know neither is nearly so detailed as Gundams usually are, but I'm happy to have gotten as much down as I did.  I'd definitely be down to see a Force battle with giant robot suits in space.  Let's see that happen in the new Star Wars series, eh Disney?

Thanks for the always excellent suggestions, Anthony!  I hope you and everyone else enjoy it!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 18 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everybody!  Here we continue, as Autumn is swept up by the massive wave, now rolling towards the shore.

As you can see, in the second part of today's boards, a lot of time went into what will be a wide (WIDE) pan.  Some time today went into starting more thumbnails, which took some thinking.  I'll probably work on more thumbnails for a while tomorrow, then continue on with finished boards. Now that the action's getting back to the beach itself, the drawings will likely get a bit more detailed again.

Daily Sketch Project Day 104 - The Birth of Christ

Hey everyone!  Today's suggestion comes from my Aunt Cheri, who wanted to see an illustration of the birth of Jesus.  As with most any Jesus-related prompt, there's a formidable history of amazing artwork interpretations.  So here's my own sketchy version.  I wanted to keep Jesus largely out of sight, since I find that less is often more, where really powerful ideas or figures are concerned.  I had a hard time finding historically accurate projections of what Mary and Joseph might have looked like, so I more referenced Israeli people and a few works of art that seemed more accurate, and extrapolated from there.

This was fun to work on, and thanks, Aunt Cheri for suggesting it!  I hope you and everyone like it : )  And a belated Happy Fourth of July to everyone!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 17 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone!  We continue today, as Autumn, still recovering from her rather unsettling flight and drop into the water, wrings out her hair, in an effort to bring a little order and dryness back into her life.

As she gets some of that water out of her hair, a wave far more massive than any yet seen rears its ugly head in the distance, makes its way forward, and overtakes poor Autumn, who glumly clutches her float in anticipation.

Daily Sketch Project Day 103 - Zuko vs. Daenerys

Hey everybody!  Today's awesome idea comes from Linh, who wanted to see Zuko from his Legend of Korra days going head to head on dragons with Daenerys Targeryan.  Here they circle about one another in the sky, each trying to gain the upper hand.  East vs. West.  If I had to bet, I'd put my money on Zuko.  As awesome as Dany can be, she is woefully ignorant of how to ride and command dragons, whereas Zuko is an old pro.  Old, yes it's true, but it's made clear he's no slouch in the winter of his years, and even if fire won't do anything to Dany, it will likely do little to a bender like Zuko either.  And the man has master over lightning besides.  In this case, I think age and experience will win over youthful vitality.  BUT my hope is that whatever problems they have, they can work out and be cool dragon buddies.

Thanks for the splendid prompt Linh!  Hope you and everyone like it!

Zaki: And everyday thing which I'm constantly in awe of

John: Ultraman

Daily Storyboard Project Day 16 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone! Here with some more boards for ya. Autumn hoists herself back onto her float, now quite soaked, and begins the process of putting herself back in order. There are more thumbnails, yet sketched, but unseen by the public. More, which shall be finalized tomorrow!

Daily Sketch Project Day 102 - Attack on Ultraman

Hey everyone! Today's prompt comes from Anthony, who asked to see Ultraman taking on a titan from Attack on Titan. And so here he is, one of the creatures within his grasp, about to hurl it over his head, already having broken one of its arms backwards. It seems to me that this titan didn't really know with whom it was messing!

Thanks for the lovely idea, Anthony! I hope you and everyone else enjoy it!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 15 - Autumn’s Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everybody!  Continuing Autumn’s increasingly troubled times, the waves grow larger and larger, eventually hurling the poor girl and her raft, up into the air, making for a rough landing.

Then, Autumn’s float comes back down, right where she surfaces, quite displeased.  Submerging once more, she gets clear of the raft and begins to pull herself up.  Nearly at the end of the thumbnails I have down, so tomorrow will see more of those done, and more finished frames besides!

Daily Sketch Project Day 102

John: Ultraman

Anthony: Ultraman doing battle with a titan from Attack on Titan

Daily Sketch Project Day 101 - Gamora Is Not Amused

Hey everyone! Today's prompt comes from Jax, who wanted to see Star Lord and Johnny Bravo competing for Gamora's attention, and failing. And fail they do, rather spectacularly. Johnny's doing a classic Bravo Pose, while Star Lord's trying out some dance moves. Gamora, meanwhile, has had it up to here with all this showboating patriarchy nonsense.

This was quite fun, and gave me a chance to draw one of my old favorite cartoon characters, Johnny Bravo! And folks from Guardians of the Galaxy besides. Definitely need to rewatch both of these things. Thanks for the excellent prompt, J'dee! I hope you and everyone enjoy this!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 14 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone! Here today with more boards for ya! Spent the first hour working on more thumbnails, and the second on what you see here. Autumn is quite enjoying relaxing in the calm of the ocean, but a series of increasingly large waves, is disrupting that peaceful ideal. What could it mean? To what is this leading? Just stay tuned, and you'll find out!

Daily Sketch Project Day 100 - Indiana Jones Visits Warehouse 13 (Continued)

Dr. Jones: It should be in..a...a mu..seum...

Pete (whispering): Myka! It's Indiana JONES!!!

Myka: *rolls eyes*

Hey everyone!  So I thought that for the hundred day mark, I'd do another hour of work on whatever prompt was that day chosen (30 minutes for lines and 30 minutes for colors, or near enough), so as to make it different than the thirty-day marks.  In this way, it's more up to chance than the thrirty day intervals, because it's not my choice, but the luck of the draw.  So, I got some lines and flat colors down on what I'd already drawn for the Anthony's sketch.

Unless I can think of something better (or someone suggests something), I think I'll do this format for each one hundred-day mark.  Whatever prompt is chosen on those days will have an hour and a half dedicated to it, which will involve sketching, lines, and colors.

I hope you all like this, and thanks so much for helping me keep this project going for one hundred days now!  Here's to many many more!

Daily Sketch Project Day 101

All righty! Here is where you can submit ideas for DSP! Each has a chance to be sketched every day, and will stay in the running it's drawn!  It's a new set of one hundred, start tomorrow!  These are the ideas currently submitted:

Gabriel: Japan Trip Portrait

Zaki: And everyday thing which I'm constantly in awe of

Cheri: Christ's Birth

Jax: Johnny Bravo competing with Star Lord for Gamora's attention. (both obviously unsuccessful)

Daily Sketch Project Day 100 - Indiana Jones Visits Warehouse 13

Dr. Jones: It should be in..a...a mu..seum...

Pete (whispering): Myka! It's Indiana JONES!!!

Myka: *rolls eyes*

Hey everyone and a Happy Centidiurnal to Daily Sketch Project! One hundred days, and one hundred sketches! And it's Anthony's sketch that came up in selection for Day 100. He wanted to see Indiana Jones visit Warehouse 13. For those who don't know, Warehouse 13 was a show on the Syfy Channel, where secret agents find and store magical and mystical artifacts in a giant warehouse, not at all dissimilar from that which stores The Ark of the Covenant in the Indiana Jones film series.

He seems quite taken aback by the warehouse stretching out before him, and Pete is barely able to contain his fanboy tendencies, while Myka finds this whole situation rather absurd.

It's a crossover I'd love to see on film or television. Ah, what a fine day that would be! It's not like some artifact couldn't bring Indiana Jones out of fiction into the reality of Warehouse 13. Or from an alternate dimension...or something. There are a LOT of possibilities. This also makes me realize that I really need to go back and finish up Warehouse 13, because I don't think I ever did, and I miss it ;___;

Thanks for the awesome suggestion, Anthony! It made for a great Day 100 prompt. I hope you and everyone else like it!

I'm still ruminating on what to do to commemorate Day 100, but you'll know it when I post it later tonight!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 13 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone!  Back to continue Autumn's journey out to sea.  Way out, past the rest of the rabble, out where she only the sounds of the rolling sea and gulls and pelicans above break through the air.  Where a fresh oceanic breeze blows.  Here, she stops, and falls backward onto her float, at peace.

DAILY SKETCH PROJECT DAY 100 IDEAS

Okay, so one thought was that I'd choose one of the drawings from those that had more work done on each 30-day mark, and work on them for another hour, or maybe even until they're done?  I'd also considered going over every sketch that HADN'T had any more work done on it from any time in the past hundred days, and work more on it for another hour or so.  Then another thought had been that whichever prompt is chosen tomorrow will get an hour and a half to itself: thirty minutes for sketching, thirty minutes for lines, and thirty minutes for colors.

What do you folks think?  Do any of these stick out as most preferable to you?  Do you have a different idea that you think would be even better?  Please feel free to let me know

Daily Sketch Project Day 100

All righty! Here is where you can submit ideas for DSP! Each has a chance to be sketched every day, and will stay in the running it's drawn! Tomorrow makes one hundred days of Daily Sketches, and I've been trying to figure out some way to commemorate it.  I'll make a separate post after this with some ideas I've had, and see what you folks think, or if you have other ideas you'd to see done.  Anywho, these are the ideas currently submitted:

Gabriel: Japan Trip Portrait

Zaki: And everyday thing which I'm constantly in awe of

Cheri: Christ's Birth

Anthony: Indiana Jones visiting Warehouse 13

Jax: Johnny Bravo competing with Star Lord for Gamora's attention. (both obviously unsuccessful)

Daily Sketch Project Day 99 - The Crystal James

Hey everybody! Today's is another from James, who wanted me to draw a portrait of him, based on his tumblr blog. There's not much for photo evidence, other than his icon, so I went with what I had, and the predominant theme I noticed among his posts, was that he loves him some Steven Universe. So here he is, quite pleased with the gem collection he's amassing.

I hope you like it James, and that everyone else does as well! Thanks for the good time prompt!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 12 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey everyone!  Here with your daily storyboard allotment from yours truly!  Spent an hour on some new thumbnails, and then the next finalizing a few.  Here we finish off this page of boards (leaving two blank frames, since I wanted a whole row for the horizontal pan at the bottom) with Autumn pushing off from shallow waters, and paddling her way into the ocean.  And on the next page  Autumn kicks further outward, leaving the beach and the beach goers behind her.  I'll be back with more boards tomorrow!

Daily Sketch Project Day 98 - Ninja of the Night

“Dude, I’m gonna go to parties.  I’m gonna be-people are gonna be at parties.  They won’t even know I’m there, and they’ll be like, "Did you hear something, TAD?’ and they’ll be like, ‘No,’ and they look up, and I’m all clinging up on the ceiling, and they’re gonna be like, 'What the-a ninja?!  Awesome!  It’s a party!’  I’ll be like, 'Just throw the cake up here, please!’  Dude!  I’m a ninja!”

Today’s prompt comes from Anthony, who wanted to see me “Ninjaing in the Night,” a la this video.  It’s a fandom classic, and I’m glad to put it down visually in my own way.  And with myself thrown in, no less!  And TAD
I hope you and and everyone like my offering, Sir Anthony!  NINJA OF THE NIGHT

Daily Storyboard Project Day 11 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey folks!  Realized that yesterday, since I finished another page of boards, I ought've just put up the full page, so I'm here to do it today!
And here are the new boards for today!  Autumns approaches the tide, and places down her float, carefully positioning herself before swimming out into the vast oceanic expanse.  That thumbnail is drawn, but not visible in this screenshot.  I did quickly come to the end of those thumbnails I did the other day, so tomorrow I'll be thumbnailing more, and then working on more finished boards.  I hit a block with the last batch of thumbs, but with any luck, I won't have the same problem tomorrow!  Hope you all enjoy these :D

Daily Sketch Project Day 97 - Mortal Kuisine

Hey everyone!  Today's prompt comes from my buddy Christopher, who wanted to see my favorite Mortal Kombat characters ordering (or attempting to order) food at a fine dining establishment.  So here we see Scorption, Reptile, and Sub-Zero, about to order, when the persistent kough Reptile's recently been suffering from takes hold of him and kauses him to accidently spit acid into the face of their waiter.  How embarrassing!  Scoprion kan't help but facepalm, while Sub-Zero just tries to sink down and disappear behind his menu.

Thanks for the very kool and kreative prompt, Sir Chris!  I hope you and everyone enjoy this manifestation of our long-time FRIENDSHIP

Babality

Daily Storyboard Project Day 10 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey again, everyone!  So we pick up where we left off, Autumn looking on Riley and his fans with disdain.  She rolls her eyes and walked toward the ocean.  Spent an hour thumbnailing (though I hit a bit of a snag on a moment or two, and so didn't complete as many as I'd have liked), and then the next hour doing what you see here.  There were only a few backgrounds that were replicated and not too many crazy foreground changes, so a lot of frames got finished today.  I imagine I'll be running over the next thumbnails in my head, and get the next finished frames up tomorrow!

Daily Sketch Project Day 96 - Avatar Cooper

"You know, this is - excuse me - a DAMN fine cup of tea!"

Hey everyone!  I'm very pleased to bring you this prompt via Sarah.  She brought up a very amusing point the other day that a passage from some music from the Avatar: The Last Airbender Finale matches up perfectly, for a few seconds, with music from Laura Palmer's Theme from Twin Peaks.  In our interactions, we eventually came to crossing over the two shows, and once Avatar Cooper appeared in our imaginings, there was nothing for it but for him to go onto the Daily Sketch Project prompt queue.

So here he is, Avatar Dale Cooper, giving himself his daily gift, a piping hot cup of tea.  He certainly seems pleased!  Another idea I had was him talking to a flying Lemur named Diane, but I ended up going with this.  THERE'S PLENTY MORE AVATAR COOPER TERRITORY TO BE EXPLORED

These are two of my favorite shows ever, and the fact that this is the first crossover art I've produced for their union is just criminal (I'm so so super excited for the new episodes next year.  Somehow out of the valley of the shadow of David Lynch leaving, he returned AND doubled the episode order.  Truly...truly a gift)!  Thanks for getting me off my butt and doing the work that really needs to be done, Sarah.  I hope you and everyone enjoy it!  *Dale Cooper style thumbs up*

Daily Storyboard Project Day 9 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey folks! Today we come to the end of the thumbnails I sketched out in the initial hour of this project. Actually went a little beyond with one I'd had in mind, but not had time to sketch. Even so, today's frame count came out to four, instead of an even six, since there were no more yet planned. This means that tomorrow, I'll be spending one hour drawing as many new thumbnails as I can, and then the next hour starting to shore those up, so there will be three new finished frames tomorrow.

But as for today's content, Riley stands, his demonstration complete, and is greeted with cheers and adoration from those around him. We then pull back to see the ACTUAL start of the story, Autumn, who looks on, displeased. With, one might say, discontent.

I'm here debuting an altered design of Autumn, who like Riley has undergone a change of ethnicity. Autumn is now of Bangladeshi descent, and is thus South Asian. I think she wears the change quite nicely. Looking forward to bringing you more of her and the events which will define this short, upon the morrow! Hope you enjoy what I have today.

Daily Sketch Project Day 96

Anthony: Me ninjaing in the night

Christopher: My favorite Mortal Kombat characters ordering (or failing to order) their preferred dishes while eating at a fine restaurant

Zaki: And everyday thing which I'm constantly in awe of

Cheri: Christ's Birth

Daily Sketch Project Day 95 - Stained Glass Stair

Hey everyone!  Today I have a prompt for you from Brian, who asked that I depict something from a lyrics of the band The Chameleons.  No small task, with so many excellent options from which to choose!  In the end, one of theirs that stick with me the most is from the song Paradiso, off of their album Strange Times from 1987.  More than anything, it was the phrase, "stained glass stair," but the couplet in which it resides is this:

"I recall a closing door, and I remember,
Seeing shadows cross a stained glass sky"

I knew that there was no way that 30's minutes would be time enough to draw a technically illustrated spiral staircase (I wanted it to be spiral for whatever reason), so I faked it mostly and used color to give the impression of the general shape.  And there was no point in making it black and white really, so I went color on it.  Maybe the most abstract piece that's yet come out of DSP, but I'm not unpleased with it.  The idea of it in my head would take a lot longer to do justice to, I think, but I did what I could with the general idea in the time allotted.

I hope you like it Brian!  There were a lot to choose from, and there's plenty more to mine in their oeuvre.  Heck there's plenty more to mine from the lyrics I did take as inspiration.  Hope everyone else likes it too!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 8 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey folks!  Here's the storyboards I produced today, which show the volleyball striking Earth once more, and intensely at that, blowing a fair bit of sand up into the air, and Riley quickly following.  He then raises his hand aloft.

It also finishes up the third full page of boards produced by this project.  Now onto the fourth!
And the volleyball comes right back to Riley.  He stands, quite pleased with his exhibition.  The last panel isn't finished, but I'm still one ahead of the general plan, so I'm counting that one as a victory still!  It will be completed upon the morrow!

Daily Sketch Project Day 94 - Rock Lee Believes and Achieves

Hey everyone!  Today’s Daily Sketch suggestion comes from first time suggestor, Linh.  While talking the other day, she uttered the statement you see in this poster, and explained that it’s her motivational phrase (although she always uses it sarcastically).  I mentioned that it sounded like it should be on a poster or mug or something with Rock Lee, and thus, she suggested it for DSP, and I’m only too happy to see it realized.

He’s always been one of my favs in Naruto, and this is absolutely something that would come out of his mouth.  It’s great to draw him again, after so so long!  Here’s hoping this can get you everyone motivated, when motivation is what they need!  Remember folks, IF YOU BELIEVE, YOU CAN ACHIEVE!!!

I hope it ACHIEVES your vision, Linh and that you and everyone else get a kick out of it!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 7 - Autumn's Discontent: Beach Day

Hey folks! Here with another storyboard update! We pick up where we left off, with riley rising up into the sky after that volleyball, which he quickly spikes back down to the earth below. The last panel there isn't complete, but I'm actually two framed ahead at current, not counting that one, so I think it sort of evens out. Don't worry; it will be finished up tomorrow!

Daily Sketch Project Day 94

So from today on, I think what I'll do is just make the new prompt post as soon as I post my Daily Sketch.  This way I don't forget to do it at midnight, and really, you can add a new idea whenever you want.  If you don't see the next day's post yet, feel free to post on the most recent one.  Each idea has a chance to be sketched every day, and will stay in the running it's drawn! These are those currently submitted:

Gabriel: Japan Trip Portrait

Linh: A motivational poster of Rock Lee, with the text, "IF YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN ACHIEVE'

Brian: Illustrated imagery from a The Chameleons song

Sarah: Avatar Cooper

Daily Sketch Project Day 93 - Vincent van Goghtoshop

Hey folks!  Today's prompt comes from Anthony, who wanted to see a portrayal of Vincent van Gogh using Photoshop to paint Starry Night.  Gotta admit, portraying so famous and talented an artist, AND a sketchy pastiche of one of history's most famous paintings is a bit daunting, but I fit what I could into the 30 minutes I had.  Van Gogh's rocking the Cintiq up in here.  It would be interesting to see how his art would manifest in modern times...  With the broad variety the art world presents us these days, who knows?

Thanks for the fun time suggestion Anthony!  I hope you and everyone else like it!

Daily Storyboard Project Day 6 - Autumn’s Discontent: Beach Day

Hey folks!  Here with my Daily Storyboards!  Only one more frame needed to be done to complete this page, so here’s the last sixteen, with one new one in the bottom right corner.  Then Metrus rockets off into the sky after the very volleyball that he himself sent aloft, gravity having no hold over him.  He’s getting closer.  SO MUCH CLOSER.

Daily Sketch Project Day 93

Okay folks, here you can submit ideas for future sketches! We're starting a new thirty-day cycle with month four today! Anyone and everyone can submit one at a time. Each idea has a chance to be sketched every day, and will stay in the running it's drawn! These are those currently submitted:

Anthony: Vincent van Gogh using Photoshop to paint Starry Night

Gabriel: Japan Trip Portrait

Linh: A motivational poster of Rock Lee, with the text, "IF YOU BELIEVE YOU CAN ACHIEVE'

Brian: Illustrated imagery from a The Chameleons song

Daily Sketch Project Day 92 - Cullen Rutherford: 21st Century Templar

Hey everyone!  Here today with a suggestion from James, who wanted to see a 21st century version of Cullen Rutherford from the Dragon Age series.  I admit I've never played the games, but I've always heard great things, and this is actually the second time I've drawn Master Rutherford for DSP, though the last time was in chibi form.  He's keepin' it kinda casual, looking rather dapper.

Thanks for the suggestion, James, and I hope you like it!  I have a feeling Farah might also get a particular kick out of this.

Daily Sketch Project Day 91 - Cloud vs. Sephiroth

Hey folks! Today's prompt comes from Brandon, who, in honor of the announced Final Fantasy 7 remake, wanted to see Cloud and Sephiroth from said game doing battle. I must admit I've never played any Final Fantasy game before, much less 7, so my knowledge of these two is only from cultural osmosis. Something about being intense enemies, Sephiroth kills Aeris, something about each having one wing. Yeah. That's mostly the extent of it!

Even if I know nothing about them, I hope you Brandon, and everyone else can still enjoy my sketch!
