Daily Sketch Project Day 9 - Destiel Smoochin’

Today’s suggestion comes from Faru, who said, “Let’s get some Destiel up in hyar,” to which I could only respond, “Let’s.” 

It has been long since I drew anythang or anybody from Supernatural, so it was fun to get reacquainted with drawing the characters.  So here we have Dean givin’ his boyfran’ some love.  I just imagine that for a long while, even after having his feelings reciprocated, Cas would be totally caught off guard by Dean showing physical affection.  Caught off guard in the best way though :P

Daily Sketch Project Day 8 - Trick or Treating Headless Hidan

Today's suggestion comes from my friend Nick, who offered a couple suggestions, one being Hidan trick or treating, using his own head as a bag. So here we have him, yelling trick or treat (probably in his typically obscene way) at a person looking out through their door.

A bit macabre, but fitting for a Halloween-based drawing! Thought I'd use some five point perspective in this, and it's quite fun to sketch in!

Daily Sketch Project Day 7 - Chibi Cullen Rutherford

Day 7 of DSP is better late than never!  Today’s suggestion comes from Faru, who requested a chibi drawing of Cullen Rutherford from Dragon Age being a nerd. 

Now I’m the first to admit that I’ve never played the game, and thus know just about nothing about it, and Sir Rutherford here (is he a Sir?)  I gleaned that he is a Templar, and that sounded like someone who might puzzle over ancient tomes, so that is what I went for.  I hope this is somewhat accurate, and I apologize if it is not.

Daily Sketch Project Day 6 - Chibi Kid Flash and Dragon

Today’s prompt comes from J’dee, and she asked for a chibi dragon or chibi Kid Flash, and I figured I’d do both!  So here we have Kid Flash racing a dragon.  In retrospect, I wonder if I shouldn’t have just done one or the other and really polished it up as much as I could in the time allotted.  I did get more final lines down and a little tone (though not as much as I’d prefer).

I hope you like it, J’dee, and I apologize that the dragon’s not better designed.  I haven’t drawn dragons in I don’t know how long, and I just winged this one off the top of my head.

Daily Sketch Project Day 5 - Darwin and Wallace

Today’s prompt comes from Alison, who suggested drawing something from a mutual favorite movie of ours, The Fall.  It’s a truly amazing film, and if you haven’t seen it, you SHOULD.  Like right NOW. 

It was a fairly open prompt, since you could derive so much inspiration from this movie.  I’d drawn Roy and Alexandria before, so I thought that today I’d drawn a different pair from the film: Charles Darwin and Wallace.  Here we see Darwin sitting by a fountain, taking notes on some naturalistic topic, when Wallace interjects with one of his famously good ideas.  Darwin listens intently, and will probably share the idea and take credit for it later.  Aaaaaah you two.

Daily Sketch Project Day 4 - Mastodon vs. Stegosaurus

My friend Koree on facebook came up with the first suggestion today, and it was to see, “A mastodon fighting a stegosaurus.“ 

And I’m here to oblige.  Don’t remember the last time drawing EITHER of these, so that was an interesting experience.  And I figured, let’s go full Fantasia and make this DRAMATIC, so here you go.  Creatures separated by millenia brought together to BATTLE IT OUT.

Daily Sketch Project Day 3 - King Richard and Chef

I’m sorry if this didn’t post at 12 PM PST!  I thought I had it queued for the right time.  When did it post after all?  D: 

Well at any rate, Capleesi royally decreed that I should draw King Richard and Chef from Galavant, which I was only too happy to do!  Never drawn ‘em before, but believe me it’s not for lack of want!  I love these guys man.  Them and Gareth make a beautiful bro trio. 

Not exactly sure what Richard is on about here, but Chef’s doing his best to play along.  I think there might be a lot of Xanax at work here. 

Lovely fun, and I even had time to tighten up some lines!  It works out, because finding reference of their feet was a little tricky, and I was in the midst of it when time ran out.  Glad the more important visual elements got a second treatment.

Never drawn anyone or anything from Steven Universe before, so this was a fun, interesting exercise! The character designs are awesome, and really fun to work with! I'm glad to be able to contribute even a little something to what seems to be a great show. I gotta start watching it one of these days!

 

Daily Sketch Project Idea and Day 1 Prompt

Hey folks!
So I feel like I can never draw enough, and it has often been heavily hinted ( :P ) that I don’t post enough art online, so I want to try a new thing that will ensure I’m posting something at least once a day.

What I’d like to do is take suggestions from you good people, and use your imaginations to power my hand.  What I’m thinking is that we’ll go on a first suggestion basis.  The first person to suggest something in reply to my Daily Sketch post will get that thing sketched out by me.  The wider the variety of subjects, the better, since it’ll make me think outside the box and draw things which I might not normally.  I will keep it as open as I can, but let’s keep the subject matter clean and safe for work.  I won’t rule out multi-drawing narrative bits, but keep it mind that these will be sketches.  My plan is to only use 30 minutes to do these things, so the more elaborate the suggestion, the less complete it’s likely to look.

I want to do this both on tumblr and facebook, but since it’s hard to tell exactly when someone replied to a post on tumblr, I don’t think I can do both at once, so I’ll alternate days.  One day tumblr, the next facebook, back and forth.

SO tl:dr, if you want to get in on this, I will make a post asking for suggestions, and I will sketch out the suggestion of the first person to respond (barring unforeseen circumstances).  If you're on tumblr, just reply to the post I make, and the same goes for facebook.  I'm going to alternate days from tumblr to facebook.  Monday March 23 will be on tumblr, Tuesday March 24 will be on facebook, and so on ad infinitum.  I may try to do it right after I get the suggestion and complete it within the next half hour, or I may need to wait until a little later to do it, but I’ll have it out within the same day!

So when I make the post tomorrow, be the first to reply and I’ll draw what you suggest!
